Cinema Spectra: Chromatic Expressions in Film

OBJECTIVE – To design a high-end, large-format book exploring how color operates as a narrative and emotional tool in cinema, using films from the Criterion Collection as case studies. The goal was to merge typographic expression with visual analysis in a format that felt both scholarly and collectible.

APPROACH – Cinema Spectra investigates the symbolic and psychological power of color through ten carefully selected films, each representing a different chromatic theme or emotional arc. The book pairs critical writing with vivid stills, restrained typographic layouts, and expressive color treatments to create a cinematic yet editorially grounded experience.
